FREGON WATER - BORES

Fregon has been operating from only 2 bores for the past 18 months but will be operating a third in the future. All bores are electrified. The manually operated pump is being operated daily and the automatically operated pump is worked at night.

During peak demands in summer it is necessary to run both bores during the day and the automatically operated bore at night.

Storage

Concrete Tanks - Capacity 305 K1 (70 000 galls) each
Storage capacity is approximately 3 days and up to 1 week during low demand.

Use

The bores are filling the tanks continuously and the storage tanks are managed and monitored daily. During the day 2 tanks provide water for the town while the third is kept full and in reserve. During the night the Community uses only one tank while the automatic bore continues to fill tank. Every 6 weeks the reserve tank is used and refilled to maintain a fresh supply.

Reticulation

The main supply line from the tanks consists of 2 x 100mm PVC lines crossing the Officer Creek to the main valving box by the office. From there the major runs are in 100mm PVC. A11 services to buildings are in PVC with isolating valves on buildings.

Running Costs

Maintenance budget controlled by DAARE.
The Essential Services Officer provides continuous monitoring and maintenance and is funded within the Community Services Budgets.

Life Cycle

The storage tanks have an unlimited life expectancy. The bores are pulled every 2-3 years and all below ground components upgraded.

Future Expansion

The current supplv should be sufficient to meet current Communuity needs. The reticulation layout is adequate to allow economic connections for new buildings in the foreseeable future.

It should be noted that Fregon has traditionally used considerably more water than other Communities.

FREGON EFFLUENT

Septic Tanks

There are currently 46 tanks connected to the effluent drainage system. All tanks appear to be of a suitable standard and no problems other than normal maintenance problems are being experienced.

Pumping Station

The pumping station is operating satisfactorily other than occasional maintenance difficulties.

Pumping Station
1 2 x Forrers 3 S x 7-2
2 2 x Forrers 3 S x 7-2
Controllers Kwikstart
Level Controls Warner
Pumping Main 80mm PVC

Lagoons
Size 48m x 135m
3 oxidation ponds

The lagoon is currently being expanded as the current 2 ponds have been overflowing regularly. It is anticipated that the extensions will overcome this problem. All lines are 100mm PVC with appropriate grades to the pumping chamber.

Runing Costs

Maintenance Budget controlled by daily maintenance and management by Essential Services Officer.

Life Cycle

Regular flushing is recommended every 6 months Pumping Station provided for in routine maintenance programme
