Anangu Community Centre Worker
My name is Sheila Bulla. I come from this community, Imanpa. I was born at Erldunda Station and I grew up at Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse. There used to be a school there in the 'silver bullets' railway carriages. We used to call it the "Silver School". After that I went to Yirara College for one year. Then I moved to Imanpa. I have lived here for many years. I started off with a job at the Store, I was doing the cooking for the Old People, and we were cooking over there because the community centre was not open for two years. It re-opened again in two thousand. I have been working here, all together, for five years. I like working here because I like to cook. I make food for little kids and for pensioners. We take turns in the washing and cooking jobs. One day I do cooking and the next day I do washing clothes and blankets. Before we do any cooking, we have a shower here. We wash kids too, and give them a bath. It's a good job. |
