Kalka Community actively supports adult training. The community has provided a training room (the old clinic) to be used by TAFE. TAFE provides on-the-job training (in the office and the store), as well as providing computer training and general education in literacy and numeracy. TAFE provides training in :

Store Training

Kalka store is the only store on the AP Lands run by Anangu; it is supported by the Community Office and TAFE. TAFE provides training in all aspects of store work - operating the till, customer service, ordering, stock control, pricing , cleaning the store, health & nutrition and much more.

Office Training

TAFE supports students doing a traineeships in Business (Certificate ll in Business). Other students learn about using the phone, filling out forms, sorting mail, filing and using office equipment like a fax, photocopier , laminator.

Computer Training

While many students learn how to type and use the computer for general purposes, some are taking it one step further and learning how to use the internet. Students are learning how to do internet banking and access information from various websites. Students access the Waru website to view stories and photos from across the AP Lands. They learn how to use a digital camera so they can create news items about their own community and develop their own personal webpage.

Learner’s Permits

Students come to TAFE to learn the road rules. They can then sit for the test to get a Learner’s Permit.

Tafe provides training in literacy and numeracy to supports other projects running in the community:
- Family Support Program
- Youth Work Program
- Aged Care (HACC)
- Ninuku Arts Project
