The Nyapari Community are very proud of the night landing facility airstrip which was been in operation since 2000. The night landing facility is very important to many people living in these remote communities in the west of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands, because it means that people can receive medical help at night time from the RFDS.
Seriously ill people are flown out on the Royal Flying Doctors Service plane at the night landing airstrip. The facility which is used by Nyapari and Kanpi as well as the outlying communities of Watarru, Pipalyatjara and Kalka when there are patients who need to be evacuated at night.
The community had to talk for a long time and work very hard to get the night landing strip.
