iCONNECT - Telephone Project

iCONNECT was a Commonwealth Government-funded and PYMedia-managed project that involved the provision of a financial subsidy for a residential telephone service to Indigenous household owners/dwellers in designated regional areas of SA/WA/NT.

iCONNECT enabled customers to select various residential telephone service options that included free telephone connections and installation. Customers then purchased a telephone handset and a $10 PhoneAway card starter pack for a total cost of $25. iCONNECT arranged installation, handset delivery and set up PhoneAway card distributors in the community.

The project is now closed. However PYMedia is committed to the delivery of remote telecommunications and will continue to lobby Telstra and the government for appropriate, accessible and affordable prepaid solutions for remote Australia.

For a listing of all the residential phones connected through this project, please refer to the new PYTel Phone Book.
